Seth Godin has an interesting post titled, Marketing the Charity Auction targeted towards nonprofit sector that he shared on Friday.

Having held auctions in the past for A Day of Hope, Seth's post gave me a couple of fresh ideas for future events.

What are you saying?

I’m giggling as I write this because I see this guy on the side of the road protesting every time I drive to the 99 freeway.  He’s always on the same corner, with the same signs, with the same loud speaker, and yelling the same words in the Spanish.

In a way, I admire this man because he’s out there advocating for his cause.  In a way, I don’t admire him because he’s got no clue how to advocate for his cause.  Look at this guy, can you understand anything on his signs?  I have probably driven past him fifty times and I still don’t understand what he’s protesting about.  Here is the kicker.  Contrary to what many people think, only a small percentage of people in California can speak Spanish.  In our office, only four out of the twenty employees can speak Spanish.  That’s only 20% and every one of those Spanish speaking individuals can also speak English.
